Lyrical

The word lyrical doesn’t sweep my mind into the world of music

It traps me inside the words

The vowels and consonants that fall from your lips

That you shape and mould into expressions of you

Drawing pictures in my mind of what lives in your heart

Lyrical, the way your voice moves

Tones rushing across my skin

Vibrations echoing through me

Sounds resonating deep within me

Lyrical, the harmony that rises in response

The lyrics of us are the narratives that underscore our days

The story that grows up and out of the melody

Voices arching together and entwining

Filling the silences and bridging the gaps

The word lyrical carries me into our deepest truths

Our history, our present and all our whispered dreams.
